Robert “Pete” L. Peterson passed away on April 20, 2018 at PinnacleHealth Harrisburg Hospital. He was born Tuesday, August 1, 1944 to the late Luther and Louella (March) Peterson of Mt. Holly Springs.

Pete was a 1962 graduate of Carlisle High School, and retired from Union Quarry. As a teenager, he followed the path laid by his Father and Uncle as a volunteer firefighter, and later became a full-time driver, Chief and President of Union Fire Company No. 1 of Carlisle.

Throughout his life… Read More » he served as Cumberland County Fire Training Coordinator, State Fire Instructor, and taught Fire Training at Harrisburg Area Community College. Pete was a local legend and respected within the Carlisle firefighting community. He also served his country as a Sergeant in United States Army Reserves.

He was a charter member of the Red Knights motorcycle club and a member of the Elks Lodge #578 in Carlisle. He is survived by his wife Judie (Sheeley) Peterson, daughters, Nicole Creamer of Mechanicsburg and Autumn Alexander (Chad) of Carlisle, son, Wesley Peterson of Newville, three grandchildren, four step-daughters, Tonia Washington of Harrisburg, Leann Stewart, Ashley Coleman of Carlisle, Amber Allsup of Steelton, two step-sons, Corey Coleman and Erick Coleman of Carlisle, nephew, James Moore of New Cumberland, niece, Patricia Walters of Delaware and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy (Peterson) Moore.

A memorial celebrating Pete’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 6 at Union Fire Company, 35 W. Louther Street, Carlisle. A visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until time of services. Interment will follow in Mount Holly Springs Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Union Fire Company No. 1, 35 W. Louther Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
