Robert L. Stansbery, age 89, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 12:45am at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Upper Sandusky. Bob was born on October 27, 1928 in Kenton, Ohio to Ernest L. and D. Bernadette (Bird) Stansbery, both of whom are deceased. He married Annetta J. Stoker on June 26, 1949 at the John Stewart Methodist Church and she survives.

He is also survived by his three daughters: Marcia (Doug) Norman of Homosassa, Florida, Terri (Bill) Baker, and Sue (Dan) Ross, both of Upper Sandusky. Seven grandchildren: Tonya (Mark) Cox, Tiffany (Mark) Shepard, Nicole Baker, Shannon Baker, Eric (Heidi) Trautwein, Scott (Hilary) Dishon, Kelly Mays, and eleven great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Bonnie (Joel) Castanien of Upper Sandusky, and a niece Julie Herring, and nephew, Ryan Castanien.

Bob was a 1946 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and went on to work with his father as a meat cutter at the Cold Storage Company in Upper Sandusky. He later went to work as an investigator for the Division of Safety and Hygiene retiring in 1992 after 35 years. He was a member for over 75 years of the John Stewart United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky, where he was active with the committee of records and history with the Old Mission Church.

Bob was an active member of the Masonic fraternity in Upper Sandusky, he was a 68-year-member of Warpole Lodge #176 F&AM, serving as worshipful master in 1960; a member of McCutchen Chapter #96 R.A.M., serving as high priest in 1961; and a member of Upper Sandusky Council #98 R&SM. He also was a life member of the BPOE#83 in Upper Sandusky. For hobbies Bob enjoyed playing his drum in local community bands for over 60 years.

He also loved dancing and belonged to the Wyandot Squares Western Square Dance Club. He enjoyed traveling and playing cards with family and friends. He had a gift by being able to tear apart items, fixing and putting them back together, along with being gifted in carpentry, having torn down a carriage house and building the garage at his home, along with restoring his 1964 T-Bird to its original beauty.

A Private Celebration of Life Service for Robert Stansbery will be held at 11:00am Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Brian Arnold officiating. Visitations will be held 1 hour before service time at the funeral home on Saturday.

It is the family’s wish that the attire for the day be casual. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to, Hospice of Wyandot County, or to the Activities Fund at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S.
