Robert’s Obituary Robert S. Willert—-92, Minot, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019 in a Velva nursing home with his wife and family by his side. Robert Stanley Willert was born on November 20, 1926, a son of Henry F. and Ethel M. (Goodall) Willert at Trinity hospital in Minot, ND. He was raised on the family farm by Surrey and graduated from Surrey High School in 1945.

Following his graduation, Robert enlisted into the United States Army Air Corps on November 28, 1945. He proudly served his country with the ending of World War II, being stationed in the Azores, Portugal. Robert was honorably discharged on January 25, 1947.

Following his discharge, he returned to the family farm near Surrey, ND. On October 5, 1950, Robert was united in marriage to Irene O. Saude in Barton, ND and farmed north of Minot. When not busy farming, he worked as a cook at the Minot Air Force Base NCO Club and Clarence Parker Hotel.

They moved to Minot in 1962. Robert worked in the maintenance department at Minot State Teachers College, now known as Minot State University, until his retirement in 1989. Robert enjoyed working in his garden, camping, tinkering in his garage on cars, motorcycles and was a self taught welder.

He was a true farmer at heart and always enjoyed working outdoors. Robert is survived by: Wife of 68 years, Irene;Children: Galen Willert, Karen (Wendell) Olson, Colleen Willert, Marjorie (Brian) Thomas, Daniel (Mary) Willert; eleven grandchildren: six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, a son Roger, a grandson Austin, and all his siblings; Morris,Bernice, Lillian, Lenora, Ethel, Glenice, Henry, and Kenneth.

Visitation and prayer service: Sunday, March 3, 2019, from noon until 3 pm at Thompson Larson Funeral Home Chapel with a prayer service at 3 pm in the chapel. Memorial Service: A memorial service will take place at a later date in the spring of 2019.
