Ronald George Davis, age 76, of Spring Green, WI passed away on the evening of June 16, 2018, surrounded by members of his loving family. Ron was born to Cumberland and Juanita Davis in Philippi, WV on October 29, 1941 shortly before his father left to fight in the Second World War. He grew up on a farm when times were tough and he spoke often about how hard he had to work beginning at a young age; however, he also said in later years that it was a good life and a good way for a boy to grow up.

… Read More » He carried that strong work ethic with him throughout his life. Ron spent 40 years working in the telecommunications Industry. He began his career as a janitor with The Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company on the East Coast, and ended his career in Dallas, TX as a director for Verizon, where he oversaw projects nationwide.

In between, he spent several years working in California, where he met his wife and loving partner to the end, Andrea (Andi). Ron and Andi retired to Arizona in 2003 and spent the next 15 years enjoying their lives together. Unlike most retirees, they headed north to cold Madison, Wisconsin and ultimately to Spring Green, where they enjoyed the beauty and serenity of their surroundings.

However, they wisely spent most winters in Sun City, AZ where they enjoyed the gorgeous weather. Ron enjoyed motorcycling, photography, golf, computers and especially traveling. Ron and Andi purchased an RV, and in addition to traveling in the US and Canada, took an epic trip down the Mexican Baja Peninsula.

Memories of that adventure helped sustain him through his illness. He also became interested in beekeeping in Spring Green and kept bees for several years; he marveled at the sweetness of the fresh honeycomb. Ron echoed that sweetness in his interactions with others: he was a generous and loving man.

He is survived by his wife, Andrea; his children, Misty (Glen) Hermes of Keller, TX; Carl Davis of Fort Worth, TX; Robert Salas of Madison, WI; Ashley (Jacquelyn) Anderson-Freund of St. Paul, MN; mother-in-law, Mary Lou Salas; and five grandchildren. He was a large and loving presence in our lives and will be forever missed. An intimate family remembrance has been held and in lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks that everyone honor Ron’s memory simply by appreciating life and treating everyone as a friend with kindness and humor, as he did.
