Obituary for Mrs. Rosalie Bagwell Owen Rosalie Bagwell Owen, 93, born March 13, 1925, wife of seventy years to Wilson James Owen, of Walhalla, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at GHS Lila Doyle. A native of Anderson County, SC, Mrs. Owen was the daughter of the late Oscar M. Bagwell, Sr. and Clara Smith Bagwell. She was a 1941 graduate of White Plains High School and a graduate of Erskine University.

Rosalie was a long-time member of Walhalla First Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher. Rosalie was Director of the Women’s Missionary Union from 1981-1985 and the Assistant Director from 1986-1987 of the Oconee County Beaverdam Baptist Association. Rosalie was a former school teacher at Starr High School and T.L. Hanna High School.

She was also a member of the Blue Ridge Garden Club. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Owen is survived by her many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Rosalie loved her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Owen was preceded in death by her brothers: Troy “Jack” Bagwell, Alvin Bagwell and Oscar M. Bagwell, Jr.; and sister: Louise Kay. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 6, 2018, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:00 PM, Sunday, prior to the service, at Davenport Funeral Home.
