Obituary for Rose K. Thomas Rose K. Thomas, 88 of York, PA, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2018. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Fitzgerald, Sr. and the late Warren G. “Barney” Thomas. Born November 24, 1929 in Columbia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Emerson W. and L. May (Durburow) Kane.

Rose graduated from Penn Manor High School, York Junior College and Rider College. She taught at St. Elizabeth School in Pittsburgh before moving to York. Rose was a member of the Gold Diggers Investment Club and the Out Door Country Club of York.

Rose was the former Tomato Queen of the Washington Boro Tomato Festival. She was an accomplished golfer and bridge player. She is survived by her greatest joys, grandsons, Sean P. Fitzgerald and Justin T. Fitzgerald as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

In additions to her parents and husbands, Rose was preceded in death by a son, Thomas J. Fitzgerald, Jr., two sisters, Barbara Kane and Eileen (Kane) Lundberg and a brother, Emerson W. Kane, Jr. A private service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Washington Boro Church of God, 15 Rockfish Street, Washington Boro, PA 17582. Arrangements by the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St. York, PA 17403.
