The son of John Hillman Meredith and Alpha Retta (Yates) Meredith, he was born October 27, 1933 in Kincaid, Illinois. Russell was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict.

In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting for rocks, and watching sports on TV. He especially liked OKC Thunder basketball, the Chicago Cubs, OU football, and Nascar. Russell enjoyed listening to country music.

His greatest enjoyment was taking his great grandchildren on vacation. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Darlene Meredith; a daughter-in-law, Vicky Meredith; four brothers; and two sisters. Russell is survived by one daughter, Joan Taylor and her husband, David Sr., of Bridge Creek; one son, Joel Meredith of Blanchard; five grandchildren, Monica Markulik, David Taylor, Jr., Michael Taylor, Brittany Meredith, and Kyle Meredith; twelve great grandchildren, Courtney, Jacob, Nathanial, Serenity, Kristi, David III, Alyna, Karlie, Rosa, Allen, Benjamin, and Tessa; one great-great grandson, Dakota; and many other loved ones and friends.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 15, 2018, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.
