Ruth’s Obituary Ruth Clara (Grau) Krueger was born on July 17, 1930, in Akron, Ohio to Alfred and Clara Grau. Ruth was baptized as an infant and later confirmed on April 2, 1944 at Zion Lutheran Church, Akron, OH. Her confirmation day was especially memorable because it was her mother’s birthday.
Also, her pastor at that young age would one day become her father-in-law. Ruth attended Firestone Park Grade School in Akron, followed by Garfield High. As a teenager, Ruth interacted with other youth within her church, Zion Lutheran.
Over time, she began to see the admirable character of a gentleman named Harold. They fell in love. On August 12, 1950, Ruth Clara Grau officially became Mrs. Ruth Clara Krueger, marrying her pastor’s son, Harold Ottomar Krueger.
Harold followed in his father’s footsteps in becoming a minister and at the age of 20, Ruth became a loving and loyal pastor’s wife. Ruth immediately became highly involved in serving the church (St. Peter Lutheran, Kinde, MI; St. Matthew Lutheran, Hawthorn Woods, IL; and Gloria Dei Lutheran, Lake Geneva, WI). Other than 6 months as a paid secretary, Ruth joyfully volunteered her time for an incredible 64 years.
She was active in all areas of parish life. A few of the many ways she gave her time was playing the organ, teaching Kindergarten, and most passionately teaching Sunday school to all ages. She wanted Jesus to be present forever in their lives.
Ruth also held leadership roles in Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Ladies Aide, and Ladies Evening Guild. Ruth expressed a unique appreciation for angels, giving many presentations on them. Ruth’s greatest sense of pride came from the family she and Harold raised over the years.
As an only child, Ruth was always amazed that the Lord gave her six children, twenty-seven grandchildren, and a growing number of great-grandchildren. In the sixty-seven years of marriage Harold and Ruth shared, they made many beautiful memories traveling together. They visited the Holy Land five times and accomplished seeing all fifty states.
Ruth also enjoyed spending her time reading, crafting and shopping. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband Harold O. Krueger. Ruth is survived by 6 children: Mark (Carol) Krueger, Kaye Krueger, Paul (Chris) Krueger, David (Jan) Krueger, Gale (Dave) Cipriani, and Debra (Drake) Williams; 27 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by 1 sister-in-law, Dorothy Ann Krueger, many nieces and nephews and a host of beloved friends. We celebrate the life that Ruth Krueger lived on earth and rejoice that she is at peace in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her beloved H, while surrounded by angels.
