Obituary of Ruth Fisher Ruth Ann Fisher, 81, Marion, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 5:20 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Marion General Hospital. She was born on March 7, 1937, in Barnwell, SC, to the late Lonnie and Mabel (Evans) Morgan. In March of 1958, she married her beloved husband, Howard Fisher.

Ruth Ann graduated from Anderson High School and went on to earn her college degree in English. She began working at the Finance Center in Indianapolis and then went on to work at the VA Hospital (first in food service and then in the insurance record department), where she retired. She was a member of Greater Second Baptist Church, where she generated the church bulletins, read the announcements, and was part of the Greater Second’s Crown Mass choir.

Ruth Ann enjoyed reading and writing, listening to gospel music, playing Spider Solitaire on the computer, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an amazing cook and her kitchen was always ready for serving others. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Howard Irvin Fisher, Marion; son, Lonnie (Debbie) Fisher, Fort Wayne; sister, Mae Helen (Gene) Wilson, Anderson; grandchildren, Dustyn Bowlds, Brittany Fisher, Cynthia Gummere, Ronald Moore, Shayla Moore, Veronica “Bailee” Nevels, and Jayda Landers; 8 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jackie German, Anderson; three special daughters: Sandra Knight, Laveen, AZ; Valerie Bruton, Marion; and Sherl Moore, Marion; and special friends known as “The Crew”, Marilyn Stewart, Annie Bryant, and Margaret “Chicken” McCain.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Eric Fisher; grandson, Nicholas Moore; and brother, John B. German. The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Greater Second Baptist Church, 705 W. 26th St., Marion, IN. Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Ruth Ann’s life will begin at 12 noon with Pastor Jerry Campbell officiating.

Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave. , Marion, IN.
