Shirley Redd Hogan, 80 passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, May 17, 2019 at her daughter’s residence after a decline in health for the past two years. Mrs. Hogan was born in Pittsylvania County, VA on March 1, 1939 a daughter of the late Willie Edward Redd and Annie Mae Anderson Redd. Mrs. Hogan retired from Pittsylvania County School System where she was a Teacher.

She was a member of Hope Church. She was a wonderful Christian woman who enjoyed spending time with her family. Her favorite pastimes were shopping and eating ice cream.

On July 14, 1957, she married William Stafford Hogan, Sr. who died on July 26, 2007. Survivors include a son, William S. “Bill” Hogan, Jr., and wife, Debi; a daughter, Rhonda H. Elliott, and husband, Wesley; seven grandchildren, Emalee Chappell (Devin), Claire Fowler (Josh), Brenda Richardson, Stacey Elliott (Isak), Carrington Elliott, Chase Hogan, T.J. Hogan; two great-granddaughters, Jette Chappell and Hogan Fowler; four sisters, Faye Hutcherson (Jimmy), Judy Whitt (Bill), Margo Blackburn, Suzy Redd; three brothers, Willie Redd (Betty), John Redd (Lynn), Lewis Redd (Lynn). In addition to her husband, two sisters, Audrey Crane and Estelle Shelton predeceased her.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 3:30 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel conducted by the Rev. Brian Edwards. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home and at other times the residence of her daughter Rhonda, 844 Johnson Road Dry Fork, VA.
