Sim Edwin Fightmaster November 15, 1936 June 16, 2018 Sierra Vista- Sim Edwin Fightmaster, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 16, 2018 with loved ones at his side. Sim, was born in Oklahoma City, on November 15, 1936, son of the late Raymond S. and Lucille M. (Whitson) Fightmaster. He attended Albuquerque High School, Hollywood High School in California, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physics from California State University Northridge.

Sim resided in several cities in Southern California before moving to Arizona in 1994. Ed joined the Air Force in 1954 and served as a radio relay technician during the Korean War. Upon returning home in 1958 he worked at Bendix and later moved to Hughes Aircraft Missile Systems to develop guidance systems.

During off hours he loved to play the banjo or ride his bike. In the winter he would ski and in the summer play golf. Sim became interested in cameras and had an amazing knack for taking pictures.

Ed’s sense of humor was his enduring quality. He could change a frown to a smile with a subtle, understated comment. He also was a tall, quiet spoken gentle soul who was kind to all and ready to help others.

If you needed something fixed or a problem solved, Ed would figure it out. Ed was predeceased by a son Edwin Thomas (ET) Fightmaster. Ed is survived by his wife Suzanne I. (Steigleder), two children Eric V. Christensen and Caren J. Guevara; two sisters, JoAnne Tipps and Mary Davis; four grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a soon-to-be another great grandchild; along with ten nieces and nephews.

Ed will be missed by his many close and dear friends. A Celebration of Ed’s Life and Military Honors were held at the Hatfield Funeral Home. Burial was in the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Ed’s family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
