Virginia Esther Martin February 11, 1926 – July 9, 2018 Virginia E. Martin (also known as “Ginny”) passed away peacefully with family by her side on July 9,2018 at the age of 92 in Sierra Vista, Arizona. She was born on a farm outside of Mt. Carmel, Ill on February 11, 1926.

She attended a small, one-room country schoolhouse for 8 years with approximately 15-20 students. Virginia had a true passion for school and learning. In fact, in her second year of high school she took a keen interest in bookkeeping, which eventually became her career.

Virginia married her first husband, Don Liddle, in 1946. In 1954 Virginia and her family started their life in Southern California. In 1962, they moved to Ridgecrest, California, where she spent the next 30 years.

During that time Don Liddle passed away and she met and married her second husband, Bill Martin. Virginia worked as a bookkeeper for the Naval Weapons Center Federal Credit Union for 27 years. She also volunteered her time as the bookkeeper/treasurer at the Foursquare Church for 19 years.

In 1992 she and Bill moved to Sierra Vista to maintain a close relationship with her daughters and their families. She quickly became a member of Mountain View Assembly of God, where she continued her passion for bookkeeping for 11 years. She loved going to church and was very involved in church activities.

Her most cherished pastime was working the fry bread booth at Art in the Park each year. She loved cooking meals for her family, crocheting, working jigsaw puzzles, playing the piano and reading. She also loved reading the Bible daily.

She was always smiling and had a hug ready for everyone she met. Virginia lived a happy and fulfilling life and was a pillar of strength for her family. She wanted nothing more than to be reunited in Heaven with Jesus and now her dream has come true.

She will be greatly missed. Virginia is survived by her daughters: Phyllis Liddle and Kathy Murray, in Sierra Vista, Betty LaJeunesse (Tom), in Colorado; Judy Catlin (Bobby), in California; 5 grandchildren: Ricky, Jessica, Travis, Amy, and Paul; many great and great-great grandchildren; her sister, Leona Morrell, in Illinois; and her brother, Clyde Ulm (Phyllis), in Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her older brother, Charles Ulm.

She had a very large and loving family which extended from her love for God, family and life.
