Obituary for Stella Mae Ball Stella Mae Ball, age 82 of Swords Creek, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 14, 2018. She was born in Russell County and was the daughter of the late, Rass and Ollie Turner Whited. Stella was a fulltime homemaker and had dedicated her life to caring for her family.
She was a dedicated Christian and loved to attend her church, Stella was a founder and pillar of the Zion Tabernacle. She was a lifetime resident of the area and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by, her loving husband, Reece Ball; son, Buck Ball; grandson, Jason Hess; Brothers, Jessie Whited, Claudie Whited, Clarence Whited; sisters, Mary Kathleen Brown and Florence Juanita “Edith” Cordle.
Those who remain to carry on her spirit are: Her Daughters: Barbara Hess and husband, Glenn of Raven, VA Cathy Keen and husband, Toby of Richlands, VA Sons: Shade Ball and wife, Dolly of Swords Creek, VA Emory Ball and wife, Treace, Swords Creek, VA Daughter-in-law, Leisha (Lee) Ball of Swords Creek, VA Grandsons: Bobby Keen and wife, Amanda and Aaron Keen Great grandsons: Brady Reece Keen and Carter Wayne Keen Several nieces, nephews and friends also survive. A special thanks to Dr. Thakkar, CVMC doctors and nurses and Legacy Hospice. The funeral service for Stella Ball will be conducted at 1:00pm on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Zion Tabernacle in the Middle Creek section of Cedar Bluff, Virginia with the Reverend’s W.L. and Janice Franklin and David Perkins officiating.
Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Bobby Justus, Colton Justus, Bernie Dye, Billy Dye, Lee Brown and Rick Cordle. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Vance, James Vance, Glen Hess, Bobby Keen, Toby Keen and Aaron Keen.
