Obituary for Shirley Sue Mullins Smith Shirley Sue Mullins Smith, age 74 of Tazewell, VA went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the home of her daughter in Raven, Virginia. She was born November 7, 1943 at Hellier, KY and was a daughter of the late William Burl and Clara Coleman Mullins. She was a 1961 Graduate of Mullins High School in Pikeville, KY and had worked as a caregiver for the Tazewell County Department of Social Services for many years.
Mrs. Smith enjoyed cooking, working in her flower garden and crocheting; she attended Amonate Freewill Baptist Church when her health allowed. She was a very humble and generous lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Ann Smith and Judy Mullins; two brothers, William Hurley Mullins and Blake Mullins.
Those who survive to cherish her memories include her loving husband, John D. Smith; one daughter, Sabaraina Ball and husband, Keith of Raven, VA; two sons, Darrell Charles and wife, Dawn of Pikeville, KY and Lester Brewer and wife, Michelle of Colonial Heights, VA; one sister, Brenda Kimble of Rosenberg, TX; two brothers, Larry Mullins of Bandy, VA and Jerry Ray Mullins and wife, Lisa of Hendersonville, TN; five grandchildren, Jason Keith Ball and wife, Alexis, Joshua Cody Ball and wife, Samantha both of Raven, VA, Jonathon Tyler Ball and companion, Keisha Lester of Wardell, VA, Bryan Brewer of Colonial Heights, VA and Kaitlin Charles of Pikeville, KY; two step-grandchildren, Matthew Patrick and Brayden Patrick both of Pikeville, KY; two great-grandchildren, Dakota Keith Ball and Elliot Wilder Ball; special caregivers, Patsy Byrd and Barbara Davidson; a host of nieces and nephews; other family members and friends also survive. Graveside Rites will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2018 at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA with Pastor Jerry Duty officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason Ball, Joshua Ball, Jonathon Ball, Keith Ball, Bryan Brewer, Brayden Patrick and Jerry Mullins.
