Obituary for Mr. Thomas C. Rizzo Mr. Thomas C. Rizzo, 52, of Pittsfield, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018 at home after a long illness. Born in Pittsfield the son of Tony and Peggy Rizzo, he was a 1983 graduate of Taconic High School and later earned his Master’s Degree from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Tom had a long career in baseball starting with local youth teams and then for Taconic High School.

Tom played on college teams including the Dalton Collegians and the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod League. In 1988 he was drafted by the Atlanta Braves where he played for four years in their Minor League System. After his time with the Braves, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Anchorage Alaska.

He continued s playing baseball while in the service for the Anchorage Bucslues in the Alaskan League. Tom returned to Pittsfield after leaving the Air Force and continued playing and coaching baseball. He was a member of the Berkshire Hillies and the Bristol Barnstormers as well as being very active in youth baseball.

He was a coach for the 2015 Babe Ruth All-Stars that went to the Babe Ruth World Series in Lawrenceburg, TN. Besides his parents, Tom is survived by his wife, the former Lisa Cabrera, whom he married on July 14, 2007. He also leaves his two children, Jailyn Rose and Antonia Grace; a brother, Michael Rizzo and his wife Susan; two sisters.

Rizzo will be Thursday, May 3, 2018, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 am at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by Rev.

A. Peter Gregory. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA will be on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m..
