Tommy Batson September 23, 1954 – November 24, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Tommy Batson of Stinnett went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, November 24, 2018. He was born September 23, 1954 in Borger to James Edward and Elnora Rose (Close) Batson. On May 26, 1973 in Perryton, Tommy married the love of his life, Kathy Baldwin and this precious union continued for 45 years.

Tommy was employed by the Borger Independent School District as a supervisor of school buses. From 2000-2005, he served as Mayor of Stinnett and for 30 years was a volunteer for the Stinnett Fire Department where he served as a training officer and the Stinnett EMS. He was a Licensed Minister and Deacon of Sunrise Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Stinnett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, TJ Batson; a brother, David Batson; a sister, Lynda Owens and a brother-in-law, James Owens. Survivors include: his loving wife, Kathy; a daughter, Kim Riggs of Stinnett; a brother, Charles Batson of Dallas; 5 grandchildren: Skyler Riggs and wife Nikki of Stinnett, Dallas Riggs of San Marcos, Texas, Kyrie Riggs of Stinnett, Jason Riggs of Stinnett and TJ Riggs of Stinnett; 2 great grandchildren: Kinnely Elliott and Calvin Riggs both of Stinnett; a God-child, Yancy Baldwin of Edmond, Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Faye Baldwin of Comanche, Oklahoma; 2 sisters-in-law: Paula Baldwin of Lawton, Oklahoma and Helen Greer Batson of Lucas, Texas; 3 brothers-in-law: Ronny Baldwin and wife Shannon of Comanche, Oklahoma, Donnie Baldwin and wife Sherri of Comanche, Oklahoma and Larry Baldwin of Lawton, Oklahoma; many nieces and nephews and numerous friends. Tommy will lie in state Monday, November 26 from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at Brown’s Chapel in Stinnett and Tuesday from 9:00 AM – Noon.

The family will welcome friends from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM, Monday, at Brown’s Chapel in Stinnett. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Stinnett. Interment will follow at Holt Cemetery.

His mother-in-law, Faye, says he was a “great guy”. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors, Stinnett.
