Verna Brunner June 30, 1923 – January 16, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Verna Brunner, 95, of Connersville, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at Caroleton Manor in Connersville. She was born on June 30, 1923; the daughter of the late Thomas F. Wilson and Anna Glaub Wilson. She married Winifred Brunner on March 2, 1946.

They were able to enjoy 32 years of marriage before he passed on July 28, 1978. Verna was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1958. She worked as the church secretary for 27 years and also in the bookstore.

For 38 years, she taught Sunday school. She loved her church and working with the children. Verna devoted her life to caring for her daughter, Glenna.

They loved to travel and explore new places. Verna worked for 17 years at J.C. Penney. In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading her bible and working crossword puzzles.

She is survived by three nieces, Karen Jack, of Connersville, Judith Porter, of Florida, and Rebecca (Jamie) Hart, of Florida; a nephew, Dennis (Vicki) Nichols, of Nevada; several great nieces and nephews, as well as her special friend, Lynn Wood. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Glenna Brunner Tompkins; a sister, Geneva Nichols; three brothers, Chester, Hubert, and Evan Wilson, and two nieces, Pat Osborne and Cheryl Harry. Visitation for Verna will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 10:00am until 12:00pm, at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home, Connersville.

The funeral service will follow at 12:00pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Kim McHale officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
