Virginia “Cotton” West May 05, 1949 – January 15, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Virginia Mae (Purdy) West “Cotton” age 68 of Philadelphia, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018. Cotton was a 1967 graduate of Loudon High School. She spent her working career in the sewing factories and for the five years before retirement she was a full-time caregiver.

She was fiercely loyal and devoted to her family. Second to that, she rescued animals, primarily cats and a few dogs too. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fan Homer and Dora (Moore) Purdy and sister, Carolyn Purdy Bullers.

She is survived by her sons and daughter in-law, George and Teresa Purdy, Lenoir City and Teddy Leroy Tutterrow of the home in Philadelphia; grandchildren, Brianna Purdy, Reno, NV and David Purdy, Lenoir City; aunts and uncles, Pat and Lane Huskins, Ed and Linda Moore; nephew, Ronnie Gribble, Maryville and special niece and husband, Tammie and David Alexander, Philadelphia; great niece, Kati Anderson and great nephew, Justin Gribble. Services honoring and remembering Virginia “Cotton” West will be held Thursday, January 18th, McGill-Karnes Chapel with Rev. Gary Cook officiating.

Interment Friday 11:30 AM in Fooshee Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Rainbow Promise Animal Rescue, Attn: Jennifer Peterson, 4454 Kingston Hwy, Loudon, TN 37774. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday prior to the services at McGill-Karnes Funeral Home, 406 Wharf St. Loudon, TN www.
