Obituary for Wiley Elam CASTLEWOOD, VIRGINIA – Wiley Elam, 74, died Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, Tennessee. He was born in Castlewood, Virginia; son of the late Hubert and Ella Mae Johnson Elam. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sherry Elam.

He was a coal miner and was an employee of Food City in St. Paul, Virginia. He had touched many lives over the years and he never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife, Mae Elam; two daughters, Pamela Hass and husband, Mike of Gate City, Virginia and Amanda Dotson and husband, Eddie of Castlewood, Virginia; one son, Kevin Elam and wife, Robin of Fredericksburg, Virginia; four grandchildren, Brian Hass, Coty Hass, Mackenzie Maxfield, and Maddison Dotson; two great grandchildren, Brayden Hass and Katelyn Hass; four sisters, Gay Vance and husband, Eugene of Cleveland, Virginia, Brenda Linkous and husband, Jerry of Dante, Virginia, Angie Parks and husband, Mark of Nickelsville, Virginia, Pat Reynolds and husband, Ira of Abingdon, Virginia; six brothers, H. L. Elam and wife, Bonnie of Castlewood, Virginia, Paul Elam and wife, Sandy of Castlewood, Virginia, Guy Elam and wife, Trish of Nickelsville, Virginia, Darrell Elam and wife, Joann of Nickelsville, Virginia, Freddie Elam and wife, Kay of Castlewood, Virginia, and Ricky Elam and wife, Shirley of Castlewood, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Wiley Elam will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2018 in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Roger Phillips and Rev. Travis Stapleton officiating.

Committal Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2018 in Grassy Creek Cemetery, Castlewood, Virginia. Family and Friends will meet at the funeral home and go in procession to the cemetery leaving at 10:15 a.m. Monday. Pallbearers will be Tom Price, Jimmy Price, Brian Hass, Coty Hass, Ryan Stapleton, and Tony Elam.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Salyer, Harold Porter, Freddie Buckles, Denver Ingle, and all associates of Food City in St. Paul, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. September 30, 2018 in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia or anytime at the home of Mrs. Elam.
