William “Bill” E. Wolfe, age 70, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Gateway Regional Medical Center, Granite City, IL. Bill was born on November 16, 1947 in Indian Mound, TN, a son of the late Charles E. Wolfe and Eleanor Rebecca (Grizzard) Wolfe. Bill was a Vietnam Veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army.

On June 5, 1971, Bill married Marilyn Doty, the love of his life, in Granite City, IL. He retired from Granite City Steel as a crane operator after thirty-six years of dedicated service. Bill was a faithful charter member of West 22nd Street Baptist Church in Granite City, IL.

He enjoyed fishing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren, whom he adored. Bill loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Charles D. Wolfe. Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn Wolfe of Granite City, IL; loving sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Joi Wolfe of Mitchell, IL and Jeff and Chelsie Wolfe of Granite City, IL; proud grandfather to Katie Wolfe, Carson Wolfe, William Wolfe and Landon Wolfe; nieces, nephews; extended family and many dear friends.

Visitation will held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL. In celebration of his life, funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL, with Pastor Keith Braddock and Pastor Artie Rivers officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

Memorial donations may be given to West 22nd Street Baptist Church or American Heart Association. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel. To send flowers or a remembrance gift to the family of William Wolfe, please visit our Tribute Store.
