Karen L. Ray, 63, of Collinsville, Illinois passed away at 5:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at St. Clare Hospital in Fenton, Missouri. She was born March 2, 1955 in Granite City, a daughter of the late Robert Charles and Elizabeth Anne “Betty” (Orr) Ebrecht. She had worked many years as an office manager, working with Community Care in Granite City and the Madison County Fireman’s Hall in Collinsville.

She was a member of Central Christian Church in Granite City and was an avid quilter. She cherished her family and enjoyed many special memories throughout the years. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Valerie and David Thompson of Caseyville and Monica Hayes of Collinsville; five grandchildren, Dustin Hayes, Madison Hayes, Isabella Thompson, Andrew Thompson and Natalie Thompson; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Karl W. and Sue Ebrecht of Granite City, David E. and Sherri Ebrecht of O’Fallon and Seth “Tom” and Lisa Ebrecht of Arlington, Texas; other extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Ray; a brother, Steven R. Ebrecht and a sister, Roberta A. Petras. In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Derrell Brame officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
