Alice C. Hunsinger, 93, of Christopher and formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 6:35 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at her home. She was born March 16, 1925 in Staunton, Illinois, a daughter of the late Vernon and Bessie (Bond) Lindley. She married Charles A. Hunsinger on April 18, 1955 and he passed away on October 19, 2007.

She had worked as a secretary and volunteered many years with Hospice of Madison County. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Niedringhaus United Methodist Church in Granite City where she had been active with the Women’s Circle and later attended First United Methodist Church in Herrin where she was active with the Methodist Sisters. She was an excellent cook and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Michael Salmo of Christopher and Susan and Michael Willmore of Stafford, Virginia; four grandchildren and spouses, Leah and David Becker, Andrew and Jessica Salmo, Austin Willmore and Brayden Willmore; four great grandchildren, Mary Grace Becker, Janie Becker, Trent Becker and Elizabeth “Betty” Salmo; other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, George Lindley and two sisters, Lorraine Duncan and Betty Young. In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 26 with Reverend John Walters officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and may be accepted at the funeral home. To send flowers or a remembrance gift to the family of Alice Hunsinger, please visit our Tribute Store.
