France Le Holt , September 06, 1953 — April 19, 2018

Frances Lee Holt (Trent) passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the age of 84. She was born in Chicago, IL on November 10, 1933 to Frank Leonard Trent and Golda Arvilla Trent (Bertram). On September 6, 1953, she married the love of her life, Leland Hugh Holt.

She supported him through the completion of his DVM and worked side by side with him in their veterinary practice as book keeper, surgical assistant and receptionist. Her love of animals continued throughout her life. Raised as a Catholic, she converted to the Methodist faith when she married.

Fran moved to the Assembly of God church when she was baptized in the Holy Spirit in the early 1980’s and remained active. Highly regarded as an artisan of all types of handwork, she took great pride in having made the wedding dresses for many of her children and loved to share her gifts with others. She was a vibrant and active community participant doing tax work and volunteering at the local hospital.

Music provided great joy especially when playing the baby grand piano given to her by her dad. Because of Fran’s gracious hospitality, she never met a stranger and all who entered her home felt welcome. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Hugh Holt who passed in 1983 and is survived by her sister Marian Marsh, her brother, William Trent, and her five children; Sherri Lee Griffin of Millersburg, MO, Timothy Leland Holt of Foristell, MO, Lucy Renee Click of Alton, IL, Bruce Edward Holt of Memphis, TN and Jeanie Louise Spooner of Quincy, IL.

She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Cory Wooden, Bethany Chapel, Chelsey Taylor, Joshua Holt, Jonathan Holt, Zachary Spooner, Jacob Spooner, Austin Holt, Ashlyn Holt and Eleanor Spooner. She is further survived by two great grandchildren; Lila Taylor and Bennett Taylor. Visitation will be held April 27, 2018 from 3PM to 7PM at GC First Assembly of God in Granite City, IL.

In celebration of her life, funeral services will be at 10AM, April 28, 2018 at the same venue with internment to follow at Sunset Hills Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, IL.
