Theodor Lvrenick , March 31, 1927 — June 24, 2018

Theodore L. “Ted” Vrenick, 91, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Liberty Village Rehabilitation Center in Maryville. He was born March 31, 1927 in Granite City, the son of the late Joseph F. and Effie A. (Davis) Vrenick. He married Jean Ann (Fabian) Vrenick at the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granite City and she passed away on May 7, 2015 after nearly 65 years of marriage.

Ted retired in 1986 from the Granite City School District #9 after 35 years of service to the community as a teacher and retiring as principal of Wilson School. He had graduated from Truman University with a degree in Education and received his Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Illinois in Champaign. The United States Army veteran proudly served his country during World War II.

He was a dedicated and faithful member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City where he had served as an usher and volunteered on numerous activities throughout the years. Ted loved the outdoors, enjoyed his days of fishing, playing bridge and traveling. He was very athletic through the years, enjoying many sports and was a state wrestler.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and will be remembered for the love and special times shared. He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Thomas and Terrell Vrenick of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, John Vrenick of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Steven and Colleen Vrenick of Troy, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Richard and April Daspit, Ryan, Rachel, Joseph, Josh, Jim, Jessica, Sean and Courtney Vrenick; two great grandchildren, Tyler and Alyssa Daspit; other extended family and many friends. In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City with Father Zachary Edgar as celebrant.
