Virginia Marie Sandberg, 85, of Moraga, California passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Aegis of Moraga Assisted Living Facility. She was born on February 1, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of the late John Joseph and Gladys (Stegemeier) Hilla. She was united in marriage on May 11, 1957 at Holy Family Catholic Church in St. Louis, Missouri to Raymond Oscar Sandberg, who currently resides at Aegis of Moraga.

Virginia attended Holy Family grade school and was a graduate of St. Elizabeth’s Academy High School in St. Louis, Missouri. She was an Executive Secretary for Fairchild Industries in Germantown, Maryland and eventually quit working to stay at home and travel with her husband. She was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church in Moraga, CA.

She enjoyed her Bridge Club, playing cards, gardening, and traveling to many parts of the world including Europe and Australia. Virginia was a loving wife, aunt, great aunt, and cousin who was very involved with her family and loved spending time with them. She was a gracious, generous, patient, spiritual person who loved and cared for everyone she knew.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sisters, Norma M. Butler and Melba G. Willibrand. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City, IL with the Reverend Jeff Holtman officiating. Inurnment will be after mass at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville, IL.
