LaDonna Schermesser, 66, of Collinsville, Illinois passed away at 7:11 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois. She was born December 12, 1951 in Marion, Illinois, a daughter of the late Cecil and Pauline (Bloodworth) Jordan. She married Welbon L. “Sonny” Schermesser on March 14, 1970 in Fairview Heights and he survives.

She had worked at C.P.I. in St. Louis after over 20 years of dedicated service as an auditor. She enjoyed working with cross-stitch and had a love for photography and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband of 48 years, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Cheryl Schermesser of Edwardsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Brandie and Casey Cotton of Maryville; three grandchildren, Gabrielle, Isabella and Logan; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Paula and Bill Walker of Granite City and Teresa and Malik Fazil of Maryville; other extended family and friends.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon with Reverend Charles West officiating. Graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and may be accepted at the funeral home.
