Patricia Smith, age 56, of Monterey, CA, formerly of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 in Monterey, CA. Patricia was born on February 8, 1962 in Miami, FL, a daughter of Perry (Wright) Smith of Glen Carbon, IL and the late Theodis Smith.

Patti was employed by the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation Division (IRS-CID) in the Miami Field Office for 30 years; from July 5, 1987, until her early retirement on May 13, 2017. Patti’s first position was that of a Group Secretary. After a few years in this position, Patti was promoted to the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Secretary.

Patti excelled in this position. In 2008, Patti was awarded “Secretary of the Year” for the years 2006 and 2007. Patti would travel to different field offices around the nation to train other SAC’s secretaries.

Due to Patti’s vast knowledge of the systems and programs within IRS-CID, Patti was promoted to the position of Management Analyst. Patti held this position until her retirement. Patricia enjoyed going on cruises, having a nice glass of wine and attending wine tasting events with her friends.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Patricia loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her father, Patricia was preceded in death by a 1st cousin, whom was truly like a brother, Kenny Smith. In addition to her loving mother, Patricia is survived by her dear sisters, Jeanette Smith-Jordan of Salinas, CA, Angie (Dayleon) Harris of Glen Carbon, IL, and Teresa (Rutcheb Desir) Godet of Sunrise, FL; proud aunt to Amber Godet, Christina Mills, Joshua Mills, Amanda Mills, Yamil Jordan, Renee Desir, and Quinton Jordan; a dear aunt, Rosie Wright; 1st cousins(brothers), Randolph Smith, Curtis (Nicky) Smith and Jamie Evans; two very close friends, Betty Stewart and Mark Kroczynski; and a multitude of extended family and friends. In celebration of her life, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road, Glen Carbon, IL, with Rev.

Donnell Young officiating. Memorial donations may be given to Montage Health Foundation, 40 Ryan Ct. Suite 200, Monterey, CA 93940.
