Bonnie Smith, age 74, of McLeansboro, IL, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, in Hanover, IN. Bonnie was born on May 9, 1943 in Puryear, TN, a daughter of the late Edward Atkins and Mildred (Jones) Atkins. Bonnie was a former member of Full Gospel Fellowship Church in Granite City, IL.

She was a proud homemaker who loved taking care of her family. Bonnie loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Smith; brother, Jack Atkins; two sons, Dexter Smith and Donald Caffrey; and by a daughter, Marie Caffrey. Bonnie is survived by her loving children, Deena (Leameal) Davis of Caseyville, IL, Leola Caffrey of Granite City, IL, Bernie (Tara) Smith of McLeansboro, IL and Daniel (Cindy) Smith of New Athens, IL; dear sisters, Fawn and Imogene; proud grandmother to five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; extended family and many friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.

In celebration of her life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, with Pastor Shea Hughes officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at East Fork Cemetery in West Frankfort, IL. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.
