Richard F. Duncan Sr., 71, of Collinsville, Illinois passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at his home. He was born April 15, 1946 in Beardstown, Illinois, a son of the late Frank and Pearl (Clapp) Duncan. He married Marcia A. (Moore) Duncan on August 7, 1969 in Wyandotte County Courthouse in Kansas City, Kansas and she survives.

He retired in 2014 from Dome Railway in Wood River after 38 years of dedicated service as a crane operator. The United States Navy veteran proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a dedicated and faithful member of Word of Life Tabernacle where he enjoyed being a part of the Praise Team.

He loved music, playing the accordion, his days of traveling and NASCAR and Dirtcar racing. His life was about serving the Lord and cherished attending church and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard F. and Melody Duncan Jr. of Granite City; a daughter, Dayna M. Duncan of Collinsville; granddaughter, Ashli Duncan of Fairview Heights; other extended family and friends.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Word of Life Tabernacle, 4870 Maryville Road in Granite City on Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon with Reverend Henry Crippen officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. Memorials may be made to Word of Life Tabernacle Praise Team.
