Opal Elizabeth Crite, 85, of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away at 3:25 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. She was born November 1, 1932 in Columbus, Georgia, a daughter of the late James Henry and Bertie (Milsap) Quinn. She married Reverend Edward Lee Crite on November 11, 1950 at the Assembly of God Church in Olive Branch, Illinois and he survives.

She was a dedicated and loving homemaker who cherished tending to her home and her family. She enjoyed her days of sewing, crocheting, cooking and baking. She loved attending church and was a faithful member of Liberty Worship Center in Edwardsville.

Opal had a special love for people, always willing to help others and had a good wit and sense of humor. In addition to her beloved husband of nearly 68 years, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria Diane and Rev. Kenneth Alder of Martinsburg, West Virginia and Sheila Renee and Jim Sorrell of Pontoon Beach, Illinois; three grandchildren, Michelle Alder, Michael Alder and Angel Alder; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Effie Wynn of Columbus, Georgia; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings, Mary, Ethel, Annie, Joe, Luke and Leo. In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018 with Reverend Tim Broihier officiating. Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
