Alice Elizabeth Rohwer Crittenden June 19, 1933 ~ March 2, 2019 Hooper– Alice Elizabeth Rohwer Crittenden, age 85, of Hooper, UT passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday March 2, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was born June 19, 1933 in Paradise, UT to Irl and Eudora Rohwer. She grew up in various cities in Utah and Idaho.
Alice supported herself through the Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Her greatest pride was working as a surgical nurse at McKay Dee Hospital. She married her lifetime sweetheart, Carroll Nicholas Crittenden on April 8, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She passed away just shy of their 64th anniversary. Together they raised 6 children, with a 7th living in foster care with them for most of his childhood. They lived for a short time in Ogden, but spent most of their life in Hooper, UT.
Alice was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served three Vietnamese speaking missions with Carroll; two in the Atlanta, GA Mission and one to the Anaheim, CA Mission. They taught English classes through the missionary program in Utah upon return of their missions.
Alongside Carroll, she was a member of the Golden Spike Gem and Mineral Society and was very skilled at jewelry wire wrapping with beautiful stones they had collected and polished together. She was also a member of the Beehive Club and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Her favorite pastimes were cross-stitching, crocheting.
Knitting, camping, rock hunting with Carroll, gardening, and spending time with her family. She loved using her talents to make beautiful creations for her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Carroll, and all of her children: Carolee (Loy, deceased) Beesley of Plain City, UT; Cindy (Ray) Hancock of Hooper, UT; Van Ba (Linh) Crittenden of Las Vegas, NV; Lisa (Mike) Della Lucia of Hooper, UT; Cheryl (Clint) Bennett of Hooper, UT; Brent Jade (Gina) Crittenden of Charlotte, NC; Carlos (Erma) Harvey of Roy, UT.
Alice has 27 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren, most of whom lived very close and she saw often. She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers; Ervin, Reese, and Winford. A special thanks to her granddaughters Tawny and Shannon, and her children, who took extra care of her during her last week at home on hospice.
Funeral services will be held Saturday March 9, 2019 at 11am at the Muskrat Springs LDS chapel at 5000 South 5900 West, Hooper, UT. Friends may visit with the family Friday, March 8, 2019 from 6-8 PM and Saturday, March 8, 2019 from 9:40 – 10:40 AM prior to services both at the church. Interment will occur at the Hooper Cemetery.
