Bernice E. Picking, 93, of York went home to be with the Lord on January 20, 2019 at Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born in Hellam to Horace and Sarah Crumling on November 19, 1925. She graduated from Hellam High School.

She was a lifelong member of Trinity UCC Church in Hallam. Bernie was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Robert Picking and a son, George H. Picking. She leaves behind a son, John Picking of York; daughter, Sharon Shank, wife of David Shank of Bainbridge, PA; nieces, Joyce Dusman of Hellam and Dawn Noles of Harrisburg; 5 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

The family is grateful to the nursing staff of Pleasant Acres for their wonderful care over the past 4 ½ years. She loved doing her word books, playing Uno, quilting, and especially Bingo. In honor of her final wishes, there will be no formal services.

She will be laid to rest alongside her husband and son at Mount Rose Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Women’s Auxiliary of Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehab Center, 118 Pleasant Acres Road, York, PA 17402.
