Betty Helen Haines, 84, of Westminster, died Friday, December 21, 2018, at home. Born January 13, 1934 in Westminster, she was raised by the late Ida Nusbaum. She was the beloved wife of 65 years to the late Charles Eugene “Chick” Haines, Sr. Before retiring she worked as a seamstress for Westminster Knit.

She also worked at Bullock’s Airport Inn and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the VFW Molleville Farm Post No. 467 Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by children Sheila Snyder and husband Steve of Westminster; Linda Hook of Westminster and Charles E. “Chick” Haines, Jr. and wife Marie of Hampstead; brother Donald Nusbaum and wife Pat of Union Bridge; sister Evelyn Wilson of Westminster; grandchildren Mark Kemp and wife Jennifer of Sykesville; Charles E. “Chick” Haines III and wife Shannon of Westminster; Christy Kurz and husband Christopher of Ormond Beach, FL and Karrie Ann Hook of Westminster; 8 great-grandchildren Emily, Garrett, Hannah, Cayden, Colleen, Cash, Madelyn and Charlee. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and 2 step-sisters. She was predeceased by a son-in-law Butch Hook.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with Deacon Charles Barnhart officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Church Cemetery in Shipley.

Memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2716 Old Washington Rd, Westminster, MD 21157.
