Obituary for Charles Edward Newton Charlie Newton, age 52, left us June 22, 2018 on his final destination to be with his Heavenly Father. He reunited with his earthly mother and father, Lynn King and Pauline Kirkpatrick Newton, his mother and father-in-law, Bennie and Ann Floyd, loving uncle, John McBride and only brother-in-law, Sammy K. Seay, and many other loved ones waiting for him on the other side. Charlie had a joyful life, because he was usually in a jovial mood, laughing, smiling, talking, telling jokes to everybody and having a good time.
It was contagious when you were around him. Proverbs 18:24 says: A man that hath Friends must shew himself friendly, and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. Charlie was that kind of friend to so many.
You know who you are, and Charlie dearly loved you. In early years Charlie worked for Chili Sanders on Breezy Heights Farms. He could vividly give you a description of climbing into those tall, tall, silos quite an experience for him.
Later he worked for the Hawkins County Road Department and was a faithful employee for years. He loved that job dearly. The job he loved most was the almost 40 years part time he spent at Persia General Store.
He had a heart for the store and the customers. Charlie then tried his hand at politics. He served as Hawkins County Commissioner District 7 for 16 years.
Two things he loved most in life was Food and Politics. Neither one of them were good for him! Charlie’s life consisted of doing for others, especially his immediate family, and his church family.
If he drove by and saw you out mowing your yard, he would stop and give you a Gatorade. He kept a cooler full of drinks, candy, and snack crackers available, and he was never selfish with them. He randomly hauled our trash off, picked up our prescriptions and groceries.
He would run any errand to help out family and friends. Charlie left behind many loved ones including his wife, Betsy Floyd Newton, the true love of his life; son, Benjamin Lynn Newton; one sister, Vicki Seay; two brothers, Gary Newton and wife, Shirley, Paul Newton and wife, Sharon; nieces, Roseanna Newton Self and husband, J.R., Megan Newton Rimer and husband, Chris, Emily Newton Reese and husband, Joshua; nephews, Hiram Newton and wife, Katie, Hugh Newton, Hunter Newton and wife, Brittini; loving aunt, Wilma McBride; special cousins, Corey and Katie Courtney; great nieces, Morgan Stewart, Kathleen Self, Tyna Newton, Pauline Lynette Reese; great nephews, Carter Stewart, Caleb Rimer, Daniel Newton, John Marshall Self, Kirk Newton, Rudy Newton, Eli Newton; and special sister-in-law, Jeanne Newton Lawson. IF CHARLIE WERE HERE TO CELEBRATE WITH US, I BELIEVE HE WOULD SAY: THERE’S VICTORY IN JESUS MY SAVIOR FOREVER!
