OBITUARY Charles & Roma Agan November 12, 1924 – December 19, 2018 Charles T. Agan, 94, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines. A memorial service celebrating him and his wife, Roma Agan, who passed away in October 2018, will take place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2019, at Ankeny Funeral Home (1510 W. First Street Ankeny, IA 50023). Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of choosing. Charles was born November 12, 1924, in Centerville, IA, to Charles William and Elieta (Anderson) Agan.

He enlisted in the United States Navy on November 23, 1942, and was a seaman 2nd Class serving during WWII. Charles was honorably discharged on January 23, 1946. He was united in marriage to Roma Grace Shawler on March 12, 1946.

Charles worked as a machinist at John Deere for 30 years. He also was an antique jewelry dealer, owning Agan Antiques with his wife. Charles was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the VFW Post 9662.

He enjoyed golfing, card games and playing pool in his free time. Left to cherish his memory are Charles’ children: Larry (Nancy) Agan, Tom (Robin) Agan, Robin (Mike) Luke, Michelle Brown (Brian Berard) and Christina Ortiz (Matthew Kim); 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and siblings: Floyd Agan, Norman Agan, Florence Simmons and Phyllis Briggs. He is preceded in death by his wife, Roma, parents and sibling, Arlene Wing.

FAMILY Left to cherish their memory are Charles and Roma’s children: Larry (Nancy) Agan, Tom (Robin) Agan, Robin (Mike) Luke, Michelle Brown (Brian Berard) and Christina Ortiz (Matthew Kim); 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Charles’ siblings: Arlene Wing, Floyd Agan, Norman Agan, Florence Simmons and Phyllis Briggs; and Roma’s sisters: Wilma Akins, Doris Render and Sharon (Billy) Dunbar. They are preceded in death by their parents.
