Larry Duane Rice, 66, of Burlington, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at his home. Born March 7, 1952, in Burlington, he was the son of Lawrence Raymond and Patricia Ann Pitzer Rice. On November 17, 1973, he married Rhonda Denato in Oak Street Baptist Church.

They later divorced in 2008. Larry worked for several local businesses over the years. His first job was at Owens Gas Station, Aspen Grove Cemetery, Dial and Diamond Vogel.

He enjoyed watching baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, Iowa Hawkeyes, races and the County Fair. He loved traveling to Ohio with his sisters and spending time with his grandchildren and teasing everyone in the family. Survivors include one daughter, Jami Rice of Farmington, one son, Jason Rice of Burlington, five grandchildren, three brothers, Mike Rice of Danville, Kevin Rice and Darrin (Mindy) Rice both of West Burlington, six sisters, Laura (David) Smith of Bedford, TX, Connie Rice of Mediapolis, Leanna (Gary) Wagler of Burlington, Diane (Randy) Smith of Ft.

Madison, Rhonda (Alan) Murphy of Burlington, Stacy (William) Sturdivant of Burlington; two aunts numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Larry was preceded in death by one brother, Darryl Rice. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.

Family will receive friends 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM Monday, January 14, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. The memorial service for Larry will be 10:00 AM Monday, January 14, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Randy Gearhart officiating. A memorial has been established for the education of his grandchild.
