Charlotte June Barnette, 77, of Jane Lew unexpectedly went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 19, 2018 in the comfort of her own home. She was born in Weston on October 6, 1941 a daughter of the late Arnett and Helen Bailey Frashuer. Charlotte and Jackie Wayne Barnette fell in love at a very young age and were married on March 22, 1958.
They were together for the thick and thin of 60 years of marriage and raising 4 children, and he will greatly miss his partner in life and laughter. Left to remember and celebrate Charlotte’s love of life are by four children: Jeff Barnette and wife, Sandra, of Lost Creek, Bob Barnette and wife, Cecil, Matthew Barnette and wife, JoAnna, and Rita Barnette and companion, Bobby Posey, all of Jane Lew; twelve grandchildren: Jeremy, Jennifer, and Jerrod Shelton, Robert V. Barnette II, Crystal Butcher, Madison and Ella Barnette, Tyke and Tyler Foster, Marcus Gaines, and Seth and Bella Posey; and numerous great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by one infant son, Jackie W. Barnette II, and one sister, Nancy Jane Cutlip.
Charlotte graduated in the Jane Lew class of 1959 and settled into her role as wonderful mother and the wife that packed her husband’s lunch every day. In return, Jack was always willing to feed her love for news by leaving home early in the mornings to return with the daily newspapers. She was Jack’s biggest fan while he was racing stock cars and he was just as exuberant when she was winning races in the Powder Puff Stock Car Races at Weston Raceway.
Early on, Charlotte spent a few years working at a hardware store before moving into health care. She was a CNA for years at the Stonewall Jackson Hospital then her passion for caring for others led her to open her own personal care home. Charlotte owned and operated J&B Personal Care in Jane Lew for well over 20 years.
In those years she touched many hearts and made a big difference in many lives. Charlotte took retirement as seriously as she did her career in care. Her retirement found her seriously relaxed in the sun on her own or Rita’s veranda.
Family and friends visitation will be held at Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service located at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2018. Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2018 from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel.
