Coralee’s Obituary Coralee (Cody) Baldwin died May 26, 2019 in Sarasota, Florida. She died peacefully after suffering a fall at her home in Longboat Key, Florida. Her love, care and kindness for others was always present.
Cody was born January 16, 1930 in Brownwood, Texas. She was one of two children of Cora Curtis Lee Fain and Benjamin Asbury Fain Sr She is predeceased by her husband Francis Scott (Scotty) Baldwin and her brother Benjamin Asbury Fain Jr
She is survived by three children, Lucile Lee Baldwin, Francis Scott Baldwin Jr. and John (Jack) Browning Baldwin. Also surviving her are two grandchildren, Samuel Paul Baldwin and Frances Lee Baldwin and her step-grandson, Trey Austin Haug. Cody attended Ward-Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee for two years then transferred to the University of Texas where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education.
During her time at the University of Texas she met the love of her life, Scotty. They were married December 28, 1952 in Brownwood, Texas. After graduation they moved to Marshall where Cody taught school for several years.
Upon retiring as a teacher, the rest of Cody’s life was dedicated to her husband and family. Cody was a member of Forum 50, Club 25 and numerous other Marshall organizations. Her favorite pastime was attending and supporting all activities for her children and grandchildren.
Cody was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Marshall and served on the Altar Guild and as an Acolyte mother. Cody was also an active member of All Angels Episcopal Church in Longboat Key, Florida. Cody served as First Lady of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers from 1995 -1996 during Scotty’s term as president.
As First Lady, she planned and helped organize Academy events that occurred in San Diego, California, including a trip abroad that made various stops in the Caribbean. Cody was blessed to spend the last years of her life at home around her family and with her trusted friend, companion and care giver Katrina Mostafa. Cody was a kind, caring and generous woman who loved her family and friends.
She will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Trinity Episcopal School, 2905 Rosborough Springs Road, Marshall, Texas 75672. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 6-7:30p.m. at Downs Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 10a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church with Father Steve McClaskey officiating. Burial will take place at Scottsville Cemetery in Scottsville, Texas.
