Darlene’s Obituary Darlene Madelyn Powers, 95, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2019. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, McAlester with Fr.

Robert Dye officiating. The burial will follow. Darlene Madelyn Powers, 95, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2019.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, McAlester with Fr. Robert Dye officiating.

The burial will follow. Darlene was born March 9, 1924 in Stonington, ILL to Pete and Jennie (Peradott) Cresto. She graduated from Excelsior Springs High School with the Class of 1941.

She married James Powers in January of 1946. She worked outside the home at St. Mary’s Hospital in the records department and at Lockheed and St. Joseph’s Church as a secretary. Darlene was most proud of being a housewife.

She was also the oldest living member of St. John the Evangelist Church. She is survived by her son, Tom Powers and wife, Mary of Norman; daughter, Carolyn Sanders of McAlester; grandchildren, J.J. Sanders of Dallas, TX, Jennifer Thow and husband, Mark of Independence, KY, Gus Sanders and wife, Whitney of New York, NY, Jackie Scott and husband, Jimmy of Norman and Jake Higginbotham of Dallas, TX; great grandchildren, Cannon, Wyatt, Harper and Meadow and other family and friends. Darlene is preceded in death by her husband, James Powers in 1992; parents, Pete and Jennie Cresto; daughter, Kelly Powers-Higginbotham; and, son-in-law, Johnny Dee Sanders.
