Dennis Walter Margroff, 78, of Accident, MD, died Friday, October 12, 2018, at his residence. Born March 22, 1940, in Accident, he was the son of the late Walter and Esther (Harman) Margroff. Mr. Margroff worked for the State of Maryland, Department of Natural Res for 30 years, based out of Bear Creek Hatcheries.

Dennis was also a dairy farmer and a Northern High School Class of 1958 graduate, whose passion was history. He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, LCMS, Garrett Co. Planning and Zoning, Garrett Co. Fair Board and board member of the Garrett Co. Soil Corporation, Garrett Co. Farm Bureau and the Garrett Co. Historical Society. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Younkin) Margroff; three sons, Kevin (Carol) Margroff and Steve (Tina) Margroff, all of Grantsville; Troy (Kerrie) Margroff, Accident; one daughter, Jill (Donald) Evans, Accident; one brother, James Margroff, Accident; one sister, Linda Strider, Accident; seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Kraig, Ryan, Rachel, Haley, Jordan and Austin; three great-grandchildren, Lukas, Logan and Brycen.

Friends will be received in the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the St. John’s Lutheran Church, LCMS, on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. James Oester officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services.
