Minier, 98, of Newberry died Wednesday afternoon March 27, 2019 at Golden Leaves Living Center in Newberry, Dorothy was born December 25, 1920 in Moran, daughter of the late Thomas Erlon Rushton and Luella Palmer. Dorothy with her four brothers and two sisters were raised in McMillan, MI, the town she always considered home. She graduated from McMillan High School.

After the death of her father in the late 1920’s, her mother married Ulrich (Toby) Gouin. Dorothy married Kenneth B. Foster and raised three children Patricia Foster Teske, Kenneth D. Foster and Kay Foster Oberle in Newberry. Later, Dorothy married George Minier, a former classmate from McMillan High School.

At various times she was employed at Foster’s Hardware, Mac’s Red Owl and as an assistant to Dr. Bradley. She was a member of the Eastern Star, member of the First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed various card groups. Throughout her long life Dorothy would also golf and bowl with cherished friends, many known since childhood.

Friends included many members of the First Presbyterian Church. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death her siblings Erlon (Keith), Laurel, Ben, Robert (Doyle), Pearl, Clara (Florence) and Ruth (Arlene); daughter Patricia Teske, granddaughter Kylie Oberle; husband George Minier and son-in-law Jack Oberle.

Dorothy is survived by son Kenneth (Ngat) of Durham, N.C. and daughter Kay Oberle of Newberry; son-in-law Gary (Kay) Teske of Curtis; grandchildren John, Laura, Corinne, Lauren, Megan, Kelly, James and Kaylie, great-grandchildren Amanda, Morgan, Mason, Caleb, Breah, Nevaeh, Kaimee, Kyson, Darion, James, Jillane, and Keira. Friends may call at the Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry on Monday April 1, 2109 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Melinda VanderSys officiating.

Interment will take place in the spring at Forest Home Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church in her memory. Condolences may be expressed at www.
