Dwight Woodrow Davis, Jr.74, of Belpre, passed away October 13, 2018 at his residence under the loving care of his family following an extended illness. He was born on March 17, 1944 in Parkersburg, one of seven children of the late Dwight W, Sr. and Edna Mae Anderson Davis. Dwight graduated from Belpre High School with the class of 1963.

He held a school record for the highest individual score in a single basketball game until recently. He went on to play basket ball with and graduate from Mt. State College.

Dwight was a successful business owner for over forty years. He enjoyed family trips to trout fish in the mountains and NASCAR. He was an organ transplant survivor of twenty-eight years, thanks to his sister Sandie who donated kidney.

Dwight’s faith played a major role in his life. He enjoyed pioneering new churches in the mid Ohio Valley, serving with Children’s Ministry, Summer Olympics, Junior Church leader, and in bus ministry, where he was considered the “”Bus Pastor”. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and proud grandfather. Dwight is survived by his wife of almost fifty-four years Loretta Rosan Sweet Davis, son Jeff Davis and his children Shay and Seth, daughter Jennifer Hamilton (Jason) and children Cole, Carlie and Carson, son Mitch Davis (Andrea) and children Cameron, Collin, and Jenna, son Brent Davis (Christina) and children Lance and Lacey, his siblings Linda Locke (Clinton), Sharon Siers (Harry), Mike Davis (Debbi), Sandie Marshall (Kim), Pamela Wendell (John), brother in law Daniel Hollandsworth and several nieces and nephew. In addition to his parents, Dwight was preceded in death by his sister Mary Hollandsworth.
