Emil Edward Engel Jr. Emil Edward Engel, Jr. Age 80 of Brighton, MI passed away on April 24, 2018. He was born on January 9, 1938 in Detroit, MI a son of Emil E. Engel and Dorothy Fettig. On July 21, 1962, he married Joan Randall in Belleville, MI.

Emil was a Brighton High School graduate and received a B.S and M.A. from Eastern Michigan University. Emil also served for two years in the U.S. Army. He was the retired Postmaster of Brighton, MI, where he served from 1980-1995.

Emil was the past president of Brighton Rotary where he was a Paul Harris recipient, gave input on the new Post Office opened in 1993, past president board of the Livingston United Way, member of the United Postmasters and Managers of America, member of the Brighton Garden Club, on the advisory committee for Phoenix Alternative High School, and served on the first LACASA advisory board. He enjoyed gardening as well as reading science fiction, presidential biographies, and history books. Surviving is his wife, Joan; brother Robert (Isabel McCallum) Engel; Aunt Shirley Thomas; sister Lynne (Benjamin) Smith; sister in law Jacquelin Randall; nieces and nephews: Craig and Curtis Randall, Heidi Alger, Janine Kraft, Phillip Smith; great nieces and nephews: Samantha, Evan, Nate, Helen, Smith, Martin, Nola and Harper as well as great grandniece, Munro.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 2:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the Keehn Funeral Home, Brighton. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 1:30 P.M. also at the funeral home with the Rev. Carl F. Welser, officiating.

Visitation begins at 12:30 P.M. on Monday. Interment to follow at St. George Lutheran Cemetery, Brighton. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. George Lutheran Church, Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation, or the Salvation Army with envelopes available at the funeral home.
