Ernie Duan Batten , January 17, 1958 — June 04, 2018

Ernie “Duane” Batten, 60, of Valley Chapel Rd. Weston went to be with God in Heaven at 11:03 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2018 from the comfort of his home, with loving family by his side, following a brave battle with cancer. He blessed this Earth when he was born in Weston on January 17, 1958 a son of the late Louis Burdell Batten and Shirley Ann Shreve Batten.

On June 4, 2017 he married his love, Pamela Kay Daniels, and his life was forever changed for the better as he began a new and exciting journey, blessed by God. His witty, loving nature will be part of a legacy that he leaves behind for his family: one son, Michael Batten and wife, Aimee, of Mount Clare; one brother, Allen Burdell Batten and wife, Diane, of Weston, two step children and five step grandchildren who he loved dearly; aunts: Patricia Ocheltree of Buckhannon, Donna Giles and husband, George, of Weston, and Frankie Kalafat and husband, John, of Morgantown; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend, loyal companion, and beloved German Shepherd, ZZ. Ernie (known as BB to many of his friends and coworkers) worked as a supervisor and truck driver in the oil and gas industry for 35+ years, then as a detailer for Hitt’s Garage until his illness forced him into retirement.

Ernie enjoyed taking leisurely drives through the countryside on his Harley with his wife, Pam. He also enjoyed camping, golfing, socializing with friends, and eating at mom and pop restaurants. His strong Christian faith was the foundation of his life and he treasured the time he spent reading the Bible and understanding God’s will.

Friends and family will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 10 – 11 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018. Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m. from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Destry Daniels officiating.
