Eugene G. Carlson, 91, of Kewanee, died at 1:51 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2018 at Kewanee Care Nursing Home. He was born on June 15, 1927 in Kewanee, the son of Raymond and Marguerite (Marlow) Carlson. Eugene attended and graduated from Kewanee High School.

He married Ramona J. Barnes on March 18, 1950 in Kewanee, she survives. Eugene was in the United States Army. Serving in Korea serving from 1945-1953.

(Angela) Chamberlain, Ladd, IL, one great granddaughter, Tatum Livek. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold Carlson. Eugene was a laborer at the Kewanee Boiler Corporation.

He later worked for Martin Engineering, retiring from there. Eugene was a member of the 1st Baptist Church, Kewanee, where he served two terms on the Board of Deacons and trustees. He also served as an usher and was part of the Berean Sunday School Class.

Eugene was a member of the Kewanee Masonic Lodge #159 AFAM and he was a member of the Royal Arch Masons. Eugene also volunteered at the church, on the Funeral Committee and at the hospital with the Blue Coats. He was also a life time member of the Kewanee VFW Post 8078.

He loved fishing, hunting, woodworking and golfing. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home. Pastor Dan Craig will officiate.

Visitation will from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, where Military Rites will be conducted by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Sunday Schools.
