Eva “Bea”‘s Obituary Chilhowie, VA Eva Lester (Bea) Mason, age 93 passed away Sunday January 20, 2019 at the Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, VA. She was born on May 7, 1925 in Washington County, VA to the late Ernest and Viola Lester and was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years John D. Mason, Jr; her three sisters Agnes Lester, Martha Lester and Lucille Kelly; her brother Roland Lester. Eva was employed at Burlington Industries for 20 years prior to it closing.

She was employed at Buster Brown of Chilhowie as a Quality Control Supervisor and retired after 21 years. Eva and her husband were active members of the Chilhowie United Methodist Church. Survivors include her sisters, Ann Lester and June Lester of the home; brothers J.G. Lester, Fred Lester and Scott Lester, all of Glade Spring, VA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to thank Fred Mason for being Eva’s caregiver and provider for the past 10 years. The family would also like to thank Tammy Clayborne for the excellent home health care and the excellent care she received at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie. The family would like to recognize the great friends who gave comfort throughout Eva’s sickness, Page and Luke Hounshell, Barbara Nelson, Loretta Wilkerson, Sarah Perry, Mary and Dick Ryan.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 Am Thursday January 24, 2019 at the Chilhowie United Methodist Church with Pastor Dan Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Westwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM prior to services at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Chilhowie UMC, 501 Old Stage Road Chilhowie, VA 24319. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www. bradleysfh.com.
