Franklin Hunter, Sr. July 24, 1938 – March 13, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book Waterbury, CT Franklin Hunter, Sr. “Loving father, grandfather, great grandfather & brother” Deacon Franklin Hunter, Sr., 80, was born in Waterbury, CT to the late John and Naomi (Reddick) Hunter on July 24, 1938. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Wilby High School in 1956. After graduating, he got a job at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Southington, CT and retired after 33 ½ years of service.

He was a lifelong member of the Grace Baptist Church and became a Deacon in 1987. He was Chairman of the Deacon Board and past President of the Adult Choir and the Usher Board. Franklin was church secretary and member of the men’s group, church treasurer and the Men’s Choir.

He was also treasurer of Grace Development Corporation, president of Grace Congregate Housing Corporation and board member of Hearth Homes Corporation. He served as president of the Long Hill Community Club for several years. He leaves one son, Franklin Hunter, Jr. (Alexandra) of Ansonia, CT, three daughters, Stacey D. Hunter, Anita D. Harris (Carlton), Andrea D. Hunter all of Waterbury, CT, five grandchildren, Crystal Lee Martinez, Christopher Morris, Lindsey Harris, Candice Harris and Oliver Gomes, Jr. and two great grandchildren, Khloey Martinez and Michael Hemingway, Jr

He also leaves one brother, Roger W. Hunter (Susan) of Moreno Valley, CA, one sister, M. Judy Abney of Waterbury, CT, one aunt, Emma Hunter of New Rochelle, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Gloria T. (Blanchard) Hunter, two brothers, John Eldon Hunter and Daniel Edward Hunter, three sisters, Jane S. Barfield, Barbara L. Hunter and Betty Ann Daley. Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the Grace Baptist Church, 65 Kingsbury St., Waterbury, CT 06702.

Following the calling hours, his funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow the service in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT has been entrusted with Franklin’s arrangements.
