George’s Obituary George A. Schneider, age 90 of Frankton, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at his home following an extended illness. He was born August 5, 1928 in Missouri, the son of Albert and Marie (Briggs) Schneider. Following High School, George proudly served in the U.S. Navy in the years immediately following World War II from 1946 to 1947.

George married the love of his life, Helen A Paulich on August 20, 1962, and they shared over 56 years of marriage together. He was an active member of the Frankton Christian Church. George worked as a production supervisor for Inland Steel Company in Hammond for 40 years until his retirement in 1990.

He and Helen lived in the Hammond area for many years. George enjoyed being involved in the Boy Scouts for many years as a Troop Leader. He was a member of the Mechanicsburg Masonic Lodge and the Middletown Lions Club.

George also served as a district officer for the Lions Club, and made several friends throughout the area within many Lions Clubs. He enjoyed woodworking, and was especially devoted to supporting and assisting the Red Bird Mission in Kentucky with Helen. George’s family legacy includes his wife, Helen A. Schneider of Frankton; 3 children, John Schneider of Jeffersonville, Dr. Barbara Schneider of Fishers, and Georgia Schneider-Pate of Anderson; 3 siblings, Melvin Schneider, May Hall, and Webb (wife Lynn) Schneider; 3 grandchildren, Aaron Pate, Sarah Pate (Casy Vallejo), and Joshua (wife Latosha) Pate; and several nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Marikay Schneider-Bailey; and his sister, Betty Schneider. A memorial service celebrating George’s life will be conducted at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Brooks of the Frankton Christian Church officiating.

The memorial service will begin with a Masonic Lodge memorial ritual by the Mechanicsburg Masonic Lodge. Military honors will take place at the conclusion of the service at the funeral home by the U.S. Navy and Elwood V.F.W. Honor Guard. Burial will take place in K. of P. – I.O.O.F.

Cemetery in Frankton privately with the family. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm prior to the service on Wednesday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Frankton Christian Church through the funeral home.
