Obituary for George Eugene Youngblood George Eugene Youngblood, 63 departed this life and entered into eternal life on Sunday, October 28th at 4:15 p.m. surrounded by his family and friends at Deaconess Gateway Medical Center. Gene was born July 6, 1955 in Evansville and was the son of Robert B. and Helena Muriel Cox Youngblood who survive. He grew up in Mt.

Vernon and was a 1974 graduate of MVHS and a 1976 graduate of Oakland City University. Gene began his working career with Hodges Appliance and Repair and spent 36 years working for Mt. Vernon Barge Service.

Since 2014 he had been an animal control officer for the city of Mt. Vernon. Gene was preceded in death by a niece, Michelle Rowland.

Besides his parents he is survived by a brother, David Youngblood (Kala) of Auburn, KY; sisters, Sheila Dichiara (Frank) of Hebron, KY, Bobbie Steele (Kevin) of Evansville and Lisa Youngblood of Clarksville, TN and daughter, Sarah Ann Gross. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews, eleven great nieces and nephews and three great great nieces and nephews. Gene was an honest, dependable and loyal employee, a kind man who enjoyed doing things for others and spending time with his family and friends.

He loved genealogical research and visiting the cemeteries where his family members were buried. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 North First Ave. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with his brother, Rev.
