George F Maloney, September 06, 1926 — June 23, 2018

Obituary for George F, Maloney George F. Maloney, 91, of York, died peacefully surrounded by family on June 23, 2018. Devoted to his family, he was the loving husband of the late Ella M. (Zink) Maloney for 67 years. Born on September 6, 1926, in Marietta, he was the son of the late Benjamin F. and Rebecca E. (Eater) Maloney and brother of the late Kathryn Finkbiner.

George served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he was a Radarman on the destroyer USS Kidd. He was awarded a Purple Heart for his service. A 1944 graduate of East Donegal High School in Maytown and a 1950 graduate of Millersville State Teachers College, he was employed as a data processing supervisor for Caterpillar Tractor Company from 1954-1983.

George was a member of Advent Lutheran Church since 1954 and a member of the West York VFW Post 8951, the Shiloh American Legion Post 791, and the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. He is survived by four children, Rebecca E. (Betsy) Scheivert and her husband, John Scheivert of Spring Grove, Barbara E. Eshbach and her husband, Rev. Clifton Eshbach of Lancaster, Nan K. Cook of Wrightsville, and G. Michael Maloney of Red Lion; seven grandchildren, Joseph Scheivert, Stephanie (Scheivert) McGoldrick, Michael Andrelczyk, Peter Andrelczyk, Ben Cook, Kate Maloney, and Patrick Maloney; and five great-grandchildren, Kathryn, Jacob, Samuel, and Benjamin Scheivert and Ellie McGoldrick.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Shea. Following cremation, a memorial service and fellowship luncheon will be held Friday, July 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Advent Lutheran Church, 1775 E. Market St., York, PA 17402 with the Rev. Daniel Biles and the Rev.

Clifton Eshbach officiating.
